FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 What paperwork do I need to enter the Bahamas?

American citizens  require a valid passport to enter into the Bahamas, and a  ticket out of the country. Citizens of other countries should check with Bahamas.com

  How do I  get to the Island?

  There are flights from Florida and Nassau on a daily basis. The two nearest airports are North Eleuthera, (15 miles and $27 by cab) and Governors Harbour, (22 miles and $42 by cab). The Fast Ferry makes a daily trip from Nassau stopping in both Spanish Wells, (nearest), and Harbour Island. You take a water taxi and a land taxi from the dock to Pineapple Hill. 

Do you provide transportation from the airport?

  We cannot provide airport transportation. Taxis meet all incoming flights.   We can assist you to arrange car rentals at a discount rate. These can be picked up at the airport or delivered to Pineapple Hill. You pay for the car rental to owner directly when you collect the car. Rental Car owners prefer cash, will reluctantly take travelers checks. Very few accept credit cards.

Island Transportation

There is no Public Transportation on Eleuthera. There are Taxis and Rental Cars. Most guests rent a car either for their entire stay or for a day or two to shop and sight see. A taxi ride to Harbour Island makes for a wonderful day trip.



 Is there any kind of food I need to bring?

You can find most basic food items on the Island, although the selection is very limited and quite pricey. Other than a prohibition against Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, you are allowed to bring any other food with you.  If you have special dietary requirements, we suggest that you check with us as to availability.

Where are the grocery stores on Eleuthera

There are several grocery stores, bakeries, and a vegetable market Gregory Town. Bruno’s General Store and Hilltop Bakery are bastions of the Thompson family. Coming from North Eleuthera, two large markets are Birchie’s, on the road to Bluff and Johnson’s in Lower Bogue. Coming from Governors Harbour  the largest is  Big Rock Store  after the town of James Cistern on your right.











How do I pay for things on the island?

  Cash is the most acceptable. The Bahamian Dollar and the US Dollar are equal.   Travelers’ Checks are accepted in most places, but are not popular since there is a fee to change them into cash.   Few businesses accept Credit Cards. Banks will give you Bahamian cash on your credit card.   Banks in North Eleuthera, Harbor Island and Governors Harbor have ATM machines.













 Can I make long distance calls from Eleuthera using my long distance card? 

Yes, you should bring your ATT, MCI, or Sprint Long Distance card. Find out from that company what the access number is from the Bahamas, and you can use this access number from the house to make your long distance calls.

What is there to do on Eleuthera





  There are beautiful beaches within walking distance of the Pineapple Hill. You can indulge in swimming, snorkeling, beach combing, fishing and hiking. Eleuthera offers surfing, sightseeing, diving, native crafts, restaurants, and many more delightful experiences.

What are your rental terms and conditions?

  We require a rental deposit of 50% of your rental plus a security deposit of $350 in order to guarantee your booking. For bookings within thirty days of your proposed arrival, we will need payment in full. The security deposit will be refunded to you by the caretaker on your departure provided that there is no damage to the villa and its’ contents. If there are any damages caused by you or any member of your party, and the security deposit does not cover the cost of repairs, you will be responsible to pay the difference.
